We invite Moreton Bay community members, businesses and organisations come together and march to ‘Raise Your Voice Against Violence’.

Moreton Bay Says NO 2 Violence (MBSN2V) Campaign is an initiative of Encircle, now in its 15th year.

A Steering Committee made up of members of the local community come together annually to lead this community event to raise awareness of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and all forms of violence in our region by hosting a ‘Peaceful March’ in Redcliffe.

The annual event continues to gain increased interest, support and attendance from state and national politicians, community groups, the regions schools, local media outlets, community organisations, residents, as well as local businesses and enterprises.

Encircle CEO Chris Staines said the march is an event to bring the community together to stand against violence in all its forms to create a safer community in Moreton Bay.

“This march is a way for everyone across the Moreton Bay community to show their commitment and support to ending Family and domestic violence and to unite against all forms of violence in our neighbourhoods.” he said.
“As individuals, we each have the power to make a difference. By speaking out against violence, by offering support to those who need it, by fostering open dialogues in our homes and workplaces – we send a clear message that violence has no place in society.”

Encircle strives to be leaders in the region and community organisations are the heartbeat of change. We ask individuals, community organisations and businesses around Moreton Bay to join with us and ‘raise your voice against violence’. Let’s march together as a force for change. Together, we are stronger. Together, we are safer. Together, we say NO to violence.

About the March

We invite everyone from the community to unite, march against violence, and make our voices heard on Friday 20th October 2023.

Individuals are requested to gather at 8:30am at Rotary Park (opposite RSL), Redcliffe (186 Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe QLD 4020).

The Moreton Bay Says No To Violence March will commence at 9:00am.

We will march along Redcliffe Parade, the main street of the Redcliffe CBD, continuing along the waterfront and down the ANZAC Avenue access road to the Redcliffe Settlement Cove Amphitheatre/Basketball Court.

A formal ceremony will be held at the amphitheatre, commencing at approximately 10:00am.

Attendees are asked to register their participation in this year’s March. By registering your attendance, you will assist our volunteer event coordinators to communicate with you about unexpected weather announcements and other important information about the day.

Why raising your voice is important

“Violence against women is at epidemic proportions. Devastatingly, over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week in Australia because of intimate partner violence” (ANROWS, 2019).

“Approximately one quarter of women in Australia have experienced at least one incident of violence by an intimate partner” (ANROWS, 2019).

Local Business Unite

Encircle encourages local business owners to consider their ability to support, promote and join with us in the 2023 march.

Social Media resources for businesses to show their support are now available from the Moreton Bay Says NO 2 Violence website.
